It consists of feeding hopper, rubber coated disc type shelling unit and a blower. Castor is fed to the shelling unit through feed hopper. It is suitable for shelling and winnowing of dried castor pods. The unit can be either operated manually or with a 0.5 hp electric motor. It saves 88 per cent labour and operating time and 69 per cent on cost of operation compared to conventional method of manually beating or rubbing with wooden plank.

It is a power tiller front mounted, walk behind type reaper windrower. The reaping attachment consists of cutter bar, two crop conveyor belts, crop row dividers and star wheels. The cutter bar and conveyor belts are driven by engine through belt-pulley and safety clutch. It is suitable for harvesting and windrowing of erect rice crop.

The walk behind type self propelled fodder harvester consists of 1450 mrn cutter bar, mounted in the centre of the power transmission with the help of two side linkages made of high pressure circular pipes to dampen the vibration of cutter bar. The unit is also provided with two crops gathering drums having flappers, rotating inwards near the cutter bar. The vertical side covers around the transmission system are provided to avoid blockage of the fodder and extended vertical guides are provided for proper windrowing. The ground clearance of the machine is 480 mrn to facilitate easy passage of fodder. The prime mover is a 3.75 kW diesel engine and it is transmitted through chains and sprockets with the chassis suitably strengthened. Its effective field capacity is 0.18 ha/h.

Uses: Harvesting and windrowing of fodder crops such as berseem.




It is a tractor front mounted machine, which has been designed to harvest matured grass seeds from the seed crop. It consists of a frame, seed sweeping assembly, height adjustment unit and seed collection box. The seed sweeping assembly comprises of a helical rubber bat reel and a curved iron sheet called sweeping surface. The reel is driven by tractor rear wheel. The helical rubber bats beat the grasses over the sweeping surface where the ripened seeds get detached and the seeds are collected in the seed box.

Uses: It is used to harvest matured grass seeds from the seed crop.




It consists of a digging blade, an elevator shaker, idlers, driving sprockets; two gauge wheels, and gearbox. The front end of the picker elevator is adjusted in accordance with the depth of working of the blade. The soil-engaging tool is made of 50 mm thick x 100 mm wide x 180 mm length straight mild steel blade with 150-degree rake angle and is fixed to a main frame through shanks at both sides. The pickup conveying mechanism of length 1200mmi s made of two 600 mm endless ship chains spaced 1800 mm apart. The angle of the shaker conveyor is 45 degrees with horizontal and has a length of 1200 mm. The digger is operated by a tractor of 35 hp or higher. The PTO through a telescoping shaft supplies power to the gearbox of the machine. It digs the groundnut vines below the pod zone and elevates them by an elevator-picker for dropping on the ground. The soil attached to the vines is shaken off in the process and a windrow is formed with the help of deflector fenders.

Uses: For harvesting and windrowing groundnut crop at soil moisture levels of 8 -15 % dry basis.




It is basically a combination of chaff-cutter and beater type thresher and has high capacity. It consists of threshing cylinder, concave, two aspirator blowers, reciprocating sieves, feeding chute with feed conveyor and feed rollers. Threshing cylinder consists of two chaff-cutter type blades and beaters. Chaff-cutter blades cut the crop into pieces while beaters help to detach the grain from crop. Threshing material passes through the concave. Light materials like chopped straw (Bhusa) are blown away with aspirator blower while the heavier materials like grains, nodes etc. fall on a set of reciprocating sieves. The sieves clean the grain and an auger elevates the grains and conveys directly into a trolley.

Uses: Harambha threshers are used for threshing wheat crop.




This machine in a single operation can harvest, chop and load the chopped fodder like maize, bajra, and oats in the trailer attached to the machine. Machine consists of a rotary shaft on which flails are mounted to harvest the crop, auger for conveying the cut crop, cutters for chopping & conveying chopped fodder through outlet into the trailer. After the blades cut the crop, it comes in auger, which conveys it to the chopping mechanism. The chopping mechanism cuts the crop into pieces and chopped material is thrown out with a high speed and is filled into the trailer hitched to the machine.

Uses: This machine in a single operation can harvest chop and load the chopped fodder in the tractor-trailer attached to the machine.




The machine is used for dehusking and shelling of maize cobs. It uses an axial flow mechanism with

spike tooth cylinder and louvers in casing for axial movement of the cobs while shelling. The machine is run with tractor pto or with a 10 hp electric motor. The hearts of the cobs are delivered through a thrower at the end of threshing cylinder. The grains with small chaff fall on to the oscillating sieve. The lighter materials are blown with the centrifugal blower and the clean grain is obtained through the outlet chute. The thresher is mounted on two pneumatic wheels for transport.

Uses: This machine is used for threshing the maize without peeling the outer layer.




It consists of spike tooth cylinder, aspirator type blower and sieve shaker. Two top covers, three concaves, three sieves, variable cyc1inder speeds (7-21 m/s) are provided for threshing different crops. It is suitable for threshing wheat, maize, sorghum, rice, gram, pigeon pea, soybean, mustard, sunflower, safflower and linseed crops. Adjustments for cylinder and blower speeds and concave clearance are provided to make the machine suitable for various crops.

The two row potato digger has 2 blades fitted on the tynes. These are mounted on the cultivator frame having holes for adjustment of row-to-row spacing. The blades are of 540 mrn length and have round bars of 12mrn diameter welded at the back at a spacing of 40-mrn interval. The angle of penetration of the blades is adjusted from the top link of the hydraulic system of the tractor. The V shaped blades with 145degree sweep angle are made from I OOx1 0mrn carbon steel flat. After harvesting most of the tubers are exposed but some of them are covered by loose soil. The mounting of the blades on the frame is made in such a way that 2 rows are left undug between the blades. However, at the time of harvesting, a system is adopted so that only one undug ridge remains in between the blades. Digging alternate rows give sufficient time to the labourers for picking harvested tubers and clearing the strips for subsequent run of the digger.

Uses: Semiautomatic potato diggers are used for harvesting potato tubers.




The rear-mounted reaper is offset type. The important components of the reaper are rear gauge wheel, reciprocating cutter bar, side gauge wheel, crop board tilting leaver and power transmission from the pto shaft to reel and cutter bar. The crop after harvesting is collected on a tilting platform behind the cutter bar. The platform is released periodically by the tractor operator to enable the harvested crop fall on the ground in the form of heaps. The harvested crop is collected manually for further processing.

Uses: It is used for the harvesting of paddy and wheat crop.




t is an engine operated walk behind type machine suitable for harvesting rice crop. The harvester consists of engine, clutch and gearbox, narrow lugged wheels, crop row dividers, star wheels, crop conveyor belt and cutter bar. The engine provides power to wheels, cutter bar and conveyor belts. During forward motion of the harvester, crop row dividers divide the crop, which are guided to cutter bar, where shearing of crop stems takes place. The cut crop is conveyed to one side of the machine by the conveyor belts fitted with lugs and is windrowed in the field. The crop is bundled manually and transported to threshing yard. The machine is suitable for harvesting rice crop under wet soil condition also.

Uses: It is used for harvesting of rice, wheat and other similar crops.




The power tiller operated soybean reaper is a walk behind equipment suitable for harvesting rice, wheat soybean and other thin-stemmed crops. The prime mover is a standard power tiller of 8-10 hp and the reaper unit is mounted in the front. Crop gathering is by means of a standard reel and the cutter bar is at the front with a loading platform for the cut crop. A flat belt moves over the platform to convey the crop to one side of the machine. The reaper consists of cutter bar, reel, platform, and gauge roller; hitch plate, power transmission system, dog clutch and mainframe.

Uses: It is used basically for the harvesting of soybean crop. It can also be used for harvesting of other bushy crops.




The spike tooth thresher consists of a spike tooth cylinder, aspirators, cleaning sieves and feeding system. The threshing cylinder, has angle iron bars on which rectangular flat iron pieces are mounted in staggered

fashion. These pieces act as spikes or beaters. Spacers are provided below angle bars for adjusting concave clearance. Concave is made of square bars and rectangular opening are formed through which threshed crop along with chaff falls on the cleaning assembly. The cylinder, aspirators and shaker assembly receive power from electric motor or PTO shaft of the tractor through V -belt and pulley arrangement. The concave clearance, sieve clearance, screens lope and speeds of cylinder and aspirator can be adjusted according to the crop requirements. For operation the dry crop is fed continuously in feeding hopper, loose in thin layer. The beaters or spikes on the threshing cylinder pull the crop, hit the crop and the impact causes detachment of grains from the ear heads of the crop. The straw and some unthreshed grains move around the cylinder. The rubbing action between the straw, threshing drum and concave threshes the rest of grains and the straw is broken in the form of chaff. Threshed grains, chaff and other foreign matters pass through the concave openings and fall on the oscillating sieve assembly. The aspirators suck and blowout the chaff and lighter impurities through outlet. Cleaning sieves further separate the heavy straw, bigger impurities, clean grain, broken grain through oscillating motion of sieve assembly. The secondary inlet of aspirator does final cleaning and clean grain is obtained at the main grain outlet.

Uses: Threshers are used for separating the grains from panicles, cobs and pods and clean them.





It consists of a threshing cylinder, concave, casing fitted with louvers, cleaning system, feeding hopper and frame. The cylinder casing is of hexagonal shape and is fitted with 7 louvers. The louvers help the crop to move axially and the crop is rotated three and half times for complete separation of grains. T he cleaning system has a blower and two sieves. Threshing efficiency of the machine is 100 % where as cleaning efficiency is about 90%.

Uses: Machine is suitable for threshing sunflower crop.




The tapioca harvester consists of a mainframe with three-point hitch system, shank with depth adjustment and digging blade with pegs. It has provision for adding dead weight on the main frame for penetration of blade in hard soils. The shank is made up of mild steel and the digger blade is attached to it. Provision has been made for changing the depth of digging, according to the tube geometry and moisture condition of the soil. The digging blade is of trapezoidal shape made of 13mm thick mild steel plate. Five pegs are provided at the front end of trapezoidal digging blade for easy penetration into the soil and reduce the draft requirement of the unit. Before digging operation, the base cutting and removal of the plant is carried out.

Uses: For harvesting of tapioca tubers.




The track type small combine harvester available in three and four row models are highly suitable for combine harvesting rice under wet soil conditions as they are provided with rubber tracks for locomotion. It consists of crop lifting mechanism with retractable fingers, reciprocating cutter bar of 1000 mm length, crop conveying system, ear head thresher and cleaning and bagging unit. The crop is held between two chain conveyors, threshed and the remaining straw is released in the field in the form of windrows. It has a provision also to chop the straw and spread it uniformly in the field for subsequent sun drying and incorporation into the soil.

Uses: It is suitable for combine harvesting rice and other cereal crops.




Machine consists of cutting unit, threshing unit, cleaning and grain handling units. The cutting section includes reel, cutter bar, an auger and a feeder conveyer. Threshing section has threshing cylinder, concave and cylinder beater. The cleaning section mainly consists of straw walker, chaffer sieve, grain collection pan and blower. The grain handling section consists of a grain elevator and a discharge auger. The crop after being cut is delivered to the cylinder and concave assembly through feeder conveyor where it is threshed and grains & straw is separated in different sections.

Uses: Combines are used for cutting, threshing, cleaning and loading in. one operation. It saves 80 – 90% labour requirement and 33% cost of operation as compared to traditional method.




The unit consists of a blade with three bar points for easy penetration into the soil. To the rear end of the blade six slats spaced at 50mm apart are hinged at both ends. The oscillating motion for the slats is obtained through eccentric provided on either side of the unit. The eccentrics are connected to a shaft provided at the top portion of the unit. The power is transmitted from the clutch pulley of the power tiller to a reduction gearbox mounted near the hitch bracket assembly of the power tiller. From the gear box, the power is transmitted to the shaft of the turmeric digger unit through V belt transmission. The pneumatic wheels are replaced with a pair of special type cage wheels to accommodate the eight of ridges.

Uses: For harvesting turmeric rhizomes.
